The Missus is a 30-something married woman living in Boston's South End. She is married to a Canadian from Toronto, and will be moving to the big-bad Canadian city in mid-2009.
Currently, The Missus works as a manager of search marketing activities at a travel company in Boston. After having spent a few "piece of shit" years at stellar (in reputation only, not in terms of "enjoyable places to work") agencies, The Missus decided "enough was enough" and up and quit her job one day. She swore to never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever work in search marketing ever again. But seeing as she is fairly decent at the job, she eventually found a dream position in a smart, fun and promising company. (So work fairytale dreams do come true people!)
Originally from a small town near Tombstone, Arizona (also known as Sierra Vista), The Missus grew up knowing that Arizona was not diverse enough of a state in which to live her entire life. She needed urban areas... With a completely different and uncomfortable lifestyle than what she grew up with in Arizona.
"If I can make it in the big city of New York," she told herself at 23, "then I can make it anywhere."
And it was true. And now she fears nothing in life. When she up and moved to NYC on a whim at 23, she soon had a number of amazing and tragic experiences. She met wonderful friends. She discovered she could maneuver the world of Manhattan jobs that paid little and worked her to the bones, she met her husband (at a bar), she lost a friend in a world tragedy, she grew apart from her friends as a result of said tragedy, she became well-versed in company politics working at the Evil Empire (also known as "Martha Stewart Living"), she got engaged, and then she moved to Boston... Where a whole different world of learning and adventures awaited her.
Now married, she is wrapping up her time in Boston before she heads to Canada (a foreign country), where she will live out the remainder of her life. Children may factor into her life's equation... But only if the birth control pills fail.
The Missus looks forward to the many adventures left to come her way in life. On Common Ground is her attempt to chronicle these adventures, as insignificant as they may seem. She welcomes comments of all kinds on her blog... However, she prefers that if one chooses to leave a "nasty" comment, they at least have the decency to leave it under a name, rather than "Anonymous."
